If you read books and you've never heard of the Dark Tower Series by Stephen King, then you've been living under a rock. This is a rare series for King. It is in the Fantasy genre rather than Horror. When he started writing this series, I believe he was hitting the LSD pretty hard because it blends a western novel with a fantasy novel. The main character is a gunslinger who is on a quest to save the world. He travels to parallel worlds on different timelines and picks up a few characters who join him on his quest. It truly is a unique fantasy series that starts out kind of slow with the first book but really picks up speed in the second and never looks back. I've read the first 5 books. The final seventh novel was released in late 2004. I highly recommend picking up the series.

I've read the first three books, but haven't gotten any further than that. I need to see if I can find them in e-book format as I do most of my reading on the light-rail on my PalmPilot. I want to go back reread the first three and then finish the series at some point.

Ok, so I'm now listening to Wizard and Glass in audio book format. It's unabridged and I'm enjoying it. I've also got the last three in audio book format as well. I'll let you all know what I think once I complete each one.

Anyone else have any thoughts on these books?

I still haven't read the last 2 books. I'm still waiting for them to come out in the cheap paperback format. :P

Ok, so I've now completed the first five books in this series and am a good way into the sixth. Man is it getting wierd or what? It's gone in a direction that I never ever expected. It's making me wonder what's going to happen in the seventh book.

If you have the time, and the patience, I would recommend listening to the audiobook versions of these books. The reader does an excellent job bringing the characters to life.
